With effect from March 24, owners of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) TV in Australia and New Zealand will be being able to view Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) content. Netflix channel has now become available to Australian and New Zealand viewers as had earlier been committed to them.
The range of prices at which the Netflix channel service can be availed is as follows:
- It is AU$8.99 for single-stream access, with the content being in standard-definition mode;
- It is AU$11.99 for two-stream access, with the content being in high-definition mode;
- It is AU$14.99 for four-stream access, with the content being in Ultra HD mode.
With reference to the exchange rates of the Australian dollar and the US dollar, the pricing is almost at par. In the United States, the three categories cost $7.99, $8.99 and $11.99 respectively. Currently, the new viewers in both the countries have an opportunity to avail a one-month free trial offer.
Apparently, the Netflix subscribers in Australia and New Zealand do not have access to the same content as their counterpart in the United States. There are few movies to which the viewers in the United States have an access but not the ones in Australia and New Zealand. These movies are: The Wolf of Wall Street, Silver Linings Playbook, World War Z and The Croods.
There has been a report in The Sydney Morning Herald that there isa lesser number of titles in the Australian version of Netflix service than in the U.S. version. However, it may be noted here that there are 693 shows in the Australian version, which are not available to the viewers in the United States.
Netflix has issued a statement that the content available to the Australian viewers will be revamped in days to come and more movies and shows would be introduced soon.
