We are 30 games into the NBA season. Now, after this solid body of work we know who are the teams that will be contending for the title, which are going to be looking for the best draft pick possible. We also had a chance to see who are the players that will be in competition for the MVP award, and boy, there are a lot of players that deserve to be in the conversation.
But still, two of them stand out. Those two are James Harden and Russell Westbrook.
The Houston Rockets are playing beautiful basketball. They are not as bad as we though that they are going to be on the defensive side of the ball as they do have some players that are known as stoppers. Their offense has been better than expected and James Harden is the one that is leading the way for Houston. He is averaging 27.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 11.8 assists per game. Those stats are good enough for him to be the best player on this 25-9 Houston Rockets squad.
On the other hand, we have Russell Westbrook that is averaging a triple double right now. 31.3 points per contest, 10.6 rebounds and 10.5 dimes per game. His Thunder is 20-13, looking good and poised to battle in the Playoffs. His stats are historically good, and he is one of the Top 5 players in the league right now.
But, the Houston Rockets are the team with the better record. James Harden is the guy that makes it all work for D’Antoni’s system and is making everyone better around him. We don’t believe that Russ does that as much as James does it, so the Bearded One is our choice for the NBA MVP right now.
