Have you ever wondered how much damage would the Fast and the Furious crew do to a city if the movie events were real-life situations? Even if you have never tried to actually calculate how much money exactly would be needed to repair the damage, it is quite clear that it would cost insurance companies and taxpayers a small fortune. But, if you’re interested to find out some rough estimates and number, we have prepared that for you.
Run by Halo Insurance Services, Insure the Gap tried really hard to calculate as closely as possible what the price tag would be, having added up the costs of each of the seven franchise installments. According to their estimates, more than $500 million (to be more precise, $527 million) would be necessary to repair all the damage. And don’t forget these are the estimates not counting the upcoming Fast and the Furious entry, which will be released on April 14.
If you’re interested in learning the numbers for specific items destroyed in the franchise, take a look at the following list:
• Over 300 regular vehicles were either damaged or destroyed, together with 37 “special” cars, which include helicopters, custom cars, and a tank; the most expensive among them was the one destroyed in the seventh installment – a Lykan Hypersport by W Motors;
• Around 80 buildings were either damaged or destroyed, together with 432 additional items;
• One of the two main antagonists, Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham), is, for now, responsible for $187 million worth damage.
It should also be noted that, contrary to many people’s expectations, the Fast and the Furious “good guys,” including Vin Diesel’s character Dominic, were actually the ones who did more financial damage than the villains. On top of all this mayhem, we need to add that these boys and girls are paid to do all this. Who wants to trade places with them?
