Chevrolet plans to introduce a mid-engine model into the Corvette’s lineup, and the details about this one are really scarce. However, if it looked like the real-life concept you can see in the photos here, that would be completely ok. In fact, it would be perfect.
In case you haven’t seen this car until now, you should know that Aria Group, design and fabrication company from California was in charge of the development and production of this concept. They did it to pay respect to GM’s late designer Ed Taylor, who went under the name of Fast Eddy in the world of cars.
According to Aria, this “mid-engine Vette” would be just perfect for Mr. Ed Taylor and he would have loved to go for a lap in it. Clive Hawkins, the co-founder of the company, said that they didn’t want to get anybody upset down at GM at the beginning of this project and even though the concept is linked to Corvette, it is an authentic vehicle, reports Car&Driver.
There are some Corvette-based features indeed, and for example, the taillight graphics are only visible when the lights are on – a smooth move by the Aria Group. This concept is equipped with satin black custom wheels which are the courtesy of HRE. The wheels come with a five double-spoke design, and you can find them in four different sizes with the smallest ones being 20 inches and the biggest ones 24 inches.
What really ruins the entire image of the Aria concept is the fact that it has no engine installed, but if it did, it would definitely be the one from the Z06 that delivers 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, says Hawkins. He added that the platform is ready and that the curb weight of the vehicles would be around 3,000 lbs. Hopefully, the Aria concept will at least be drivable, since it won’t be in production.
