Many believe that Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has brought good days for the company. However, after just a little over a year of service, the CEO is yet to face the challenges that lie ahead.
Satya Nadella has been a popular CEO. Time magazine mentioned him in the list of 100 most influential people in the world. Even the critics of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) hold a soft corner for him. Aaron Levie, CEO of Box, said that Nadella is driving openness in Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). However, according to experts, it is still early to judge the performance of this CEO. Nadella began his career as CEO of Microsoft Corporation in February 2014. And there are many challenges that he is yet to face.
The most notable achievement of the CEO would be the offering of cloud-based service through Microsoft Corporation. The company has ventured off the beaten path under the leadership of Satya Nadella. The company now offers streaming analytics service on the cloud platform that processes and correlates multiple streams of data in the cloud.
This service, called Azure, is doing relatively well. According to the report released by The Economist, the company registered a growth of 96% in the last quarter of the previous year. However the company had started with very low share and even the 96% growth has only resulted in 8-9% of market share. Most of the cloud market is dominated by Amazon Web Services.
Another challenge that has to be tackled is the growth in the mobile platform. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) acquired Nokia and tried to advance in the Smartphone market. However, the company has not registered any significant growth in this area. According to the current direction of the company, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is trying to integrate the mobile platform with PC by introducing Windows 10.
The distribution and success of this new OS are yet another challenge. If Windows 10 is successful, it will bring huge benefits to the company. Until then, no one can really comment on the performance of Satya Nadella as CEO. These are still early days.
