Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) seems to have gone nuts over the Android platform. The long going rivalry between the two platforms (where Android dominated for the most part) will come to an end as the company decides to allow Android apps on Windows platform. These changes will most likely be seen in the upcoming Windows 10 platform.
Paul Thurrott, a Windows enthusiast, blogger, said that the company is likely to announce support for Android apps in Windows 10 in the big developer conference that will be held soon. This means the Windows 10 platform will soon be able to run Android apps. While this is happy news for all the Windows users, the company seems to have axed its own developer community with this move.
There are not so many apps on the Windows platform as compared to the Android platform. The platform has millions of apps and literally thousands of new developers pouring in every day along with their new apps. But that does not mean that Windows should give up its developer platform altogether. Though this may not seem logical, allowing Android apps on Windows will nothing but a suicide move for the Windows platform app development.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has been struggling over the past few years to develop a decent number of apps for its Windows Phone platform. And the company has failed remarkably ever since. As a result Windows Phone users enjoy much fewer apps than Android users. The less number of users of the Windows Phone platform is also a discouraging factor for app developers.
App developers are less likely to use their talent for few users when they have the opportunity to have a global impact. This dilemma has caused Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to take stand and let the Android apps flow in. Though the company has not officially confirmed this move, the current situation is that the company might not have a viable alternative.
If Android apps really find their place on Windows platform, the users will enjoy the apps and will be more prone to buy an Android phone next time. That is why this is a suicide move by the company, but a boon for users.
