Braun Strowman was one of the best things on Monday Night Raw in the past couple of months. His rise to the top was a thing of beauty since he has been booked almost to perfection. Dominant look and athletic ability are what convinced Vince McMahon that he should push Braun as a monster heel. So far, the Monster Among Men hasn’t disappointed and has made the most of the opportunity that he has been given.
The plans were for him to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at the Great Balls of Fire pay per view, but the injury prevented that. On the other hand, Lesnar vs. Reigns was originally planned for the Wrestlemania 34, but it seems that the company is in a rush to get that title back on Monday Night Raw, so they changed their main event for the Summerslam.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that WWE officially changed their mind when it comes to the Summerslam pay per view. John Cena was supposed to be the one to go up against Roman Reigns, while Lesnar battles Braun. Now, WWE is likely to book Reigns vs. Lesnar much earlier than they originally wanted to.
This is actually not a bad move. There are a lot of high caliber talents on Monday Night Raw, and it is hard to find something to do for all of them. The main event scene is strong, and the champion needs to be there. When Lesnar is not present, he is holding the title hostage, and it is hurting the guys that are on the brand. Maybe Reigns taking the title away from the Beast Incarnate at the biggest show of the summer is actually a good idea. It will be interesting to see what will the company do going into the Great Balls of Fire and the Summerslam.
