The main event picture on Smackdown in the past couple of months has seen the Wyatt family going up against each other. Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt were a team, with Luke Harper being the one looking outside-in. Harper had a major rise in the singles competition when he left the Wyatts, and he got a pretty nice push. He also wrestled some good matches, and that was one of the main reasons for his rise.
Now, when Randy Orton turned on Bray Wyatt, there were talks about whether or not Luke should be included in the main event of Wrestlemania. He had good chemistry with Randy Orton, and people were invested in him as a babyface. He was getting pretty good reactions, which was a bit surprising. But, when you take a look at his in-ring work since leaving the Wyatts, you can see why the fans are behind him. He has done a great job, and this seemed like a perfect story and a great spot for him. He recently spoke about how he feels about being in the Wyatts and whether or not he misses it.
“Nope, don’t miss it at all. I just did an interview recently where I just talked bout how frustrating it was to be in The Family, be almost a “Backup dancer” for a strong amount of time. Me and Rowan broke out, and I broke out with the Intercontinental (Championship), but always in a shadow. For a performer like me, that’s hard to take and hard to deal with, and I thought that the coming out party of the last of the last six weeks was very eye opening and, ya know, showed me what was out there.”
He also noted that he is a bit upset about the fact that Wrestlemania main event was so close to him, but that he got left out in the end, even though he was on the rise and it was the best possible storyline for him.
