After a year in which they lost only one game during the regular season, the Carolina Panthers are now finding themselves at the bottom of the division. They went to the Super Bowl just ten months ago, and now they are getting ready to pack their bags and travel back to North Carolina after what likely is a season-ending loss.
They can’t recover from this. Falcons are playing way too well for Cam Newton and company to catch them while the other teams in this division made big statements on Sunday with two big wins. Carolina is now in sole possession of the last place in the division, and obviously, they will stay there.
Kelvin Benjamin‘s TD catch at the beginning of the final quarter was huge, and it put this team up by eight. They couldn’t score ever since, and they allowed the Raiders to come back and win this game. The offense couldn’t do a thing on the final drive after Oakland already took the lead.
Cam went just 14/29 in this game with three total TDs and one pick. He didn’t deliver the level of performance that he needed to show and the defense couldn’t step up when they needed to. This is a season-ending loss for the reigning NFC champions. There will be changes on the defensive side of the ball in NC, there is no doubt about that.
