LinkedIn Corp (NYSE: LNKD) announced that the number of its members worldwide reached more than 300 million. According to the professional social network company, more than 50% of its members are located in other countries and around 100 million of its members are in the United States.
“While this is an exciting moment, we still have a long way to go to realize our vision of creating economic opportunity for every one of the 3.3 billion people in the global workforce,” wrote Deep Nishar, SVP of products and user experience at LinkedIn Corp (NYSE: LNKD).
According to the professional networking company, it has 44% female members and 56% male members. LinkedIn Corporation (NYSE: LNKD) said it would achieve its objective by delivering personalized experiences built around its members and their identity, network and knowledge.
LinkedIn Corp. (NYSE: LNKD) brought together contents from millions of publishers to provide its members access to all business knowledge through Pulse and Influencer posts from approximately 500 of the leaders in business. The professional social network also said that it will continue to roll out its publishing platform, expand LinkedIn Groups and SlideShare.
In addition, LinkedIn Corp (NYSE: LNKD) emphasized that mobile is critical for the company and it is anticipating to hit its “mobile moment” later this year. The company noted that 50% of its global traffic comes from mobile.
“Our members in dozens of locations including Costa Rica, Malaysia, Singapore, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, use LinkedIn more on their mobile devices than on their desktop computers,” according to Nishar.
LinkedIn Corp (NYSE: LNKD) has 15 million average daily profile views, 1.45 million job views and 44,000 job applications in 200 countries through mobile.
Two years ago, the professional social network started developing multiple LinkedIn mobile apps tailored to the different needs of its diverse members in anticipation of its mobile moment. Nishar said the company is focused on establishing partnership with top mobile device manufacturers such as Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL), Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE: NOK), and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd (KRX: 005935) among others.
Earlier this year, LinkedIn Corp (NYSE: LNKD) expanded its presence in China by launching a beta version of its new Simplified Chinese website with an objective to connect Chinese professionals (estimated to be around 140 million) to the global workforce.
