Sony decided to drop some major bombs on us at the PSX (PlayStation Experience) event by announcing The Last of Us 2 with nothing less than a trailer, Uncharted 4 single-player DLC and more on the Crash Bandicoot trilogy.

The Naughty Dog sequel will take place five years after the events that we saw in the original game and once again as expected the stars will be Ellie and Joel, although you will spend a lot more time controlling Ellie.

Last of Us 2 Release Date

When it comes to the release date, the players can expect The Last of Us 2 to launch sometime in 2018, most likely in time for Christmas. There is also one change that struck us and it is the info that the second installment of this title will be directed by Neil Druckmann, instead of Bruce Straley, who co-directed the original game.

On the PSX the game’s creative team spoke on the topic of the decision to make a sequel to the title which originally ended perfectly so to say. Druckmann wanted the players to keep believing in the studio, and be at ease because the second installment won’t be any different than the original. Here Druckmann, willingly or not, discovered that although the original was about love, the second part will revolve around hate. See the trailer bellow.

The second thing that was heavily featured this weekend was the good old Crash Bandicoot. The Crash Bandicoot Sane Trilogy will feature remastered versions of Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. The trilogy is under development by Vicarious Visions, and it will have some new features such as new lighting, animations, environments and brand new cut-scenes that will bring this iconic game to the next level. It was also announced that it would be given the PS4 Pro support meaning that we can expect the trilogy in 4K. Yay!

Besides that some other updates include full analog stick support, a unified save and checkpoint system, improved bonus levels and time trials. On top f that, expect a remastered soundtrack, as well as lines from Jess Harnell and Lex Lang. Thanks to some previous reports we know that the Crash Bandicoot Sane Trilogy can be expected sometime in 2017 for PS4.

And last but not least is Uncharted 4 single-player DLC that was also announced at the same PSX weekend. Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacies DLC as described will be a standalone adventure that will feature Chloe Frazer. That is according to a Naughty Dog blog post “As the smooth-talking master thief who debuted in Uncharted 2, Chloe is not only one of our favorite characters, but we know she’s a favorite among our community”. That post continues to read “She’s also a strong and enigmatic character — in other words, perfect to be our lead protagonist in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.”

The game video was released on the event that allowed us to see that Chloe had teamed up with Nadine Ross who is described as “formidable and interesting character whose complex nature we just started exploring in her Uncharted 4 debut”. The description continues with “She’s a skilled tactician, whose cool, calculating nature offers an important contrast to Chloe’s improvisation and wit. As they venture deep into India’s Western Ghats mountain range, they’ll need to work together to recover the long lost Tusk of Ganesh”.
