Kamisama Hajimemashita, better known as Kamisama Kiss, a highly popular anime series, premiered in 2012, lasted for 25 episodes in 2 seasons and stopped there. Its fans are eager to know whether there will be Season 3 of the show.
The source of the anime is manga series created by artist Julietta Suzuki. Director Akitaro Daichi from the TMS Entertainment Company made the anime out of it, and it was released on October 1, 2012.
Plot
The story follows Nanami Momozono, an ordinary schoolgirl. As it often goes in Japanese anime, Nanami helps a God, afterward, he kisses her forehead. This turns her into a lesser deity. She settles in a shrine where she meets Tomoe, a fox youkai, i. e. a shapeshifter or mononoke who wins her heart.
The series mostly deals with Nanami’s acceptance of her new role as a deity and her unusual relationship with Tomoe. Namely, any bond between a human and a youkai is forbidden, and they must find out a way to deal with these problems.
Kamisama Kiss – Timeline
DVD and Blu-ray releases of the first season were delivered in late November 2014. By January 2015, Kamisama Kiss Season 2 reached home screens. The second seasons had an even more intriguing plot than the first one. It focuses on Nanami’s visit to the ‘symposium’ of Gods, but there are many other characters who play a significant role.
Kamisama Kiss was a great success, especially because at first it seemed like an ordinary teenage anime, but it turned into a complex series with numerous characters. It was greatly accepted by both audience and critics.
Season 3 Release Date
The producers haven’t said anything official on the release date yet of the sequel. Nonetheless, we can hope it will be aired this year. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for the positive outcome and look forward to the third season.
