Harry Potter fans have many reasons to celebrate as J.K.Rowling is giving another insight into the magic world full of wizards in the forthcoming movie – Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Yet, the surprises do not end here since one of the most famous actors in the world will be joining the cast of this Harry Potter spin-off. The director David Yates has put an end to all the rumors by confirming that Johnny Depp will take part in this project.
The actor will be playing a character of Gellert Grindelwald, a dark wizard who originates from the famous Harry Potter. Having in mind that the villain has a unique and complex personality, the director was in a search for an actor who would be fit for the character and who would be able to handle such a difficult role. According to the director: “Johnny Depp is a real artist. He’s created several characters who have really resonated in our popular culture. He’s a really brilliant, brilliant actor. We were excited about seeing what he would do with this guy, the character. He’s fearless; he’s imaginative; he’s ambitious. We thought he would do something fun and special. So we went for him, purely on that selfish basis.”
Although he takes a crucial role in the movie, Johnny Depp will at first make only a short appearance in the spin-off, only to show us his brilliance in the ensuing follow-up. Through his prior work, we have already known Johnny as a villain, but it only remains to see how he will handle such a significant character in the upcoming movie.
