In one of the major upsets in WWE history, Jinder Mahal was able to beat Randy Orton in the main event of the Backlash pay per view and to win the WWE Championship for the first time in his career. Two months ago nobody really paid attention to this guy as he was losing every single match.
He was actually brought back so that he could put the other newer and younger talent over. For the most part, he was doing just that. Then, the Wrestlemania happened, and he was second only to Mojo Rawley in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. After that, the move to Smackdown Live followed, and it was the best thing that has ever happened to this guy.
A lot of people congratulated him on this big win as there are a lot of his peers that know just how hard he worked to get where he is at today. It’s never easy to return to the place that you once were before and then even go past that in the second run with the company. Mahal is now going to be a heel champion on the blue brand. After the big victory, here is what he had to say.
“This is already the best day of my life. This is right after the match, and the adrenaline is still pumping, but tonight when I have my alone time when I can reflect on my full journey of how I started in wrestling and all the steps and road bumps that I took to get to this part. This is a very emotional moment. This is 15 years of my hard work and dedication – half of my life. My childhood dream has finally come true.”
