Jerry Jones Makes A Big Statement About Romo’s Future With The Cowboys

Tony Romo has held a press conference this week in order to let everyone know that Dak Prescott is the one that should play at the quarterback position for the Dallas Cowboys. This saga in Dallas is over, at least for now. That doesn’t mean that we won’t talk about Prescott and Romo if the rookie starts playing badly.

We will for sure talk about these two in the offseason. Why? Well, it’s because Romo likely isn’t going anywhere and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him starting over Dak Prescott next year regardless of how this season ends for the Cowboys.

Team owner Jerry Jones has made a strong statement about the future of Romo in Dallas. There is no doubt about the fact that he still wants him on this team.

“This is not a goodbye,” Jones said when asked about Romo’s future with the team. “I think Tony’s got five years left of really competing for a Super Bowl. I believe Tony will be the quarterback on a Super Bowl team. I believe that strongly. Now we are talking generic now. I have no plans of him not to be a part of the Dallas Cowboys. Not a consideration.”

The message was sent loud and clear. Dak Prescott is the starter for now, but he might not be the future of this team if Jones really believes what he stated. Obviously, he doesn’t want Romo to be traded, and he definitely thinks that his team will contend for a Super Bowl in the next couple of seasons. No matter what happens it is always great to have a signal caller of Romo caliber on the bench as a backup in case Prescott can’t carry this team anymore.
