2018 NFL Draft is almost upon us. The owner of Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, and his associates are getting ready to select the players they like and need. But, Jones doesn’t have a habit of revealing who are they going to pick before the draft. Luckily he does leave a hint or two here and there. So we might have a picture in which direction are the Cowboys going.

The Dallas franchise is hosting a couple of prospects during this and next week, and here’s what Jones had to say about the upcoming draft.

Cowboys owner commented on an event held in Dallas on 27th and 28th of April: “There is some defensive talent that has a chance to drop. Therein lies your opportunity. If a number of quarterbacks are taken, a number of running backs are taken, two or three or those offensive tackles hit. Really as much as anything, there could be a couple of guards taken ahead of us. It’s positioned for a situation to drop.”

Jerry is up to something here, but he’s also a bit off. For example, only one running back is projected to go before Cowboys’ No19 pick. As far as the offensive tackles go, all of them might be on the table when Dallas’ turn to select their player comes. The part about quarterbacks is on the spot. Four, maybe five QBs will be gone before No19 pick owned by America’s Team. Few guards and receivers will also be out before Jones gets his man. So, a defensive talent might fall to them as he suggested. Last year Cowboys invested in their cornerback corps, so if one of eighteen teams that pick before them takes a CB, it’s only good news for The Boys.

But this doesn’t mean that Cowboys won’t trade up if they start believing that a player they like won’t fall to them. When talking about trading up, and a bunch of compensatory picks Cowboys own, Jones said: “Yes, we can trade them which is great. You can move up. With a little bit of ambiguity on the number of quarterbacks and what we just talked about, there could be an active draft there in the first round.”

Owner of the most expensive sports franchise believes that Cowboys are in a good position before the draft and that they will ensure that they get the players they want. Just, who do they want?!
