Rumors and all kind of talks about Grand Cherokee with Hellcat sourced engine under its hood have been around for almost an entire year. The model that in the future could carry the Hellcat badge was presented to US dealers in Las Vegas. Despite the saying that all things that happen in Vegas stay in Vegas word about this model has reached the world.
A year has passed, and yet there is no official confirmation from Jeep. Test mules of new Cherokee have been spotted on numerous occasions, but so far there were no indications that Hellcat model is on the way.

That was the case until a couple of days ago when one car-enthusiast from Detroit filmed Grand Cherokee prototype on the streets. It was heavily camouflaged, but the big brakes that are standard on all Hellcat models were more than noticeable and together with the sound of the engine they gave us an idea. It was same as the one you all got, and that is the thought that this might be an Hellcat Grand Cherokee.
If these assumptions turn out to be true, under the hood of this beast lies Challenger or Charger Hellcat powertrain. These engines are no ordinary stuff ’cause they come with an unbelievable 707hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Putting these into Grand Cherokee would probably launch it onto the first place of the ’’world’s fastest accelerating SUV’s’’. With this kind of power Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat could go 0-60 in less than 3.5 seconds.
Whether all of this will turn out to be true remains to be seen, but from all of the info that we have gathered so far this model could come out by the mid-2017 or by the end of the same year. When it gets out of production line, it is possible that Hellcat Jep will carry the Trackhawk name.
