New Infiniti Q60 coupe has been launched recently, but what if it looked like a Chevrolet El Camino pickup? It probably wouldn’t be a good idea, and luckily Infiniti won’t do that, but X-Tomi Design used Photoshop to create an El-Camino-like Infiniti.
It is individual whether you like the design of the Q60 or not, but even if it is not your favorite, you cannot say that the car is hideous. On the contrary, Infiniti is a pretty attractive car, but what would make him horrid is the addition of the pickup bed. The shape of that kind of vehicle is not natural and because of the bubble-shaped cab, it looks even worse. This car can avoid the “ute” treatment.
As it was mentioned in the beginning of the article, the Q60 has been launched recently as a 2017MY. It substitutes Q60 coupe (G37) and it looks like Q50 sedan in some segments. There are several engine options – a 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 rated at 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, Red Sport version of that engine is available and it produces 400 hp and 350 lb-ft.
We might see a convertible in future, but luckily, the Q60 won’t look like El Camino. The future of the popular “utes” may be questionable as Ford and GM are drawing production of cars to a close in Australia. In 2008, GM tried to launch the Australian-market Holden Ute on the US market under the name of Pontiac G8 ST, but the endeavor was not successful due to the company’s bankruptcy and extinction of the vehicle.
Pickup trucks with luxury branding are not that popular either, but Mercedes-Benz plans to produce a pickup based on the Nissan NP300 Navara. Lexus also has plans for a new pickup, which doesn’t mean that Infinity will follow that path.
