We have gotten used to seeing the news of police officers getting wounded or even worse, getting killed all around the globe. It doesn’t necessarily always go that way, cases of perpetrators getting killed are also not rare. People got used to this, and when you really look at it, it can be really devastating and awful that after hundreds of years of human civilization we still have these bitter cases of deaths and gruesome violence.
The majority of police officers are just trying to do their job every day. They are here to serve and protect the people, the taxpayers that allocate certain amounts of money every month that is used for their wages. However, not all of them are so kind-hearted and good, and so we bring you an example from Thailand. This is a case of what you may call ‘faith in humanity restored.’ This police officer was in a life-threatening situation where a guy walked in and pulled a knife on him. Now everyone would assume that the only reaction that should come from the officer is to take his gun and neutralize the perpetrator. Well, this wasn’t the case here. This police officer avoided violence, and he simply talked the man out of doing what he intended to.
It was all going well for Anirut Malee, the police officer on video, that day until a guy, clearly distressed entered the Huay Kwang police station. The man was clearly holding a huge knife, and by the looks of it, he was having a rough day, so he decided to take matters into his own hands and lash it out on the local police. One can see how calm Malee was. His reaction was one of a pacifist. He could have pulled out a gun and easily killed the man, but instead, he decided to start talking to him. When asked about the whole situation he said this:
‘He used to be a musician but had been working as a security guard for three days and had not been paid. On top of this, he had had his guitar stolen and it was all stressing him out.
‘I heard him out and sympathized and said I had a guitar to give him, and suggested we go out for a meal together. We were conversing in Southern Thai dialect.’
Our hero, Anirut, successfully calmed down the man and he simply handed over the knife. Could you believe it?! He calmly handed out the knife to Anirut. He didn’t put up a fight. He instantly started crying and do you know what Anirut did then? Well, he comforted him! He gave him a hug! A true hero and this is where we see how that quote ‘Some heroes don’t wear capes’ comes in handy!
Of course, Malee had to check and see whether this guy had any other weapons. He didn’t have anything else on him at the moment, and a few minutes later he was taken to the hospital. Police didn’t press charges, and we could say that this ended well for everyone.
Anirut, of course, became a hero and he deserves that title! This video had millions of hits. People from all around the globe praised this police officer for his acts of kindness.
