The people who are living in Great Britain have witnessed a weird event as the sky turned completely red and orange. However, this is not the arrival of the speculated Nibiru planet as some are led to believe. The red sky is caused by the powerful 100 mph storm that brought dust and sand from the Sahara Desert which is 2,300 miles away.
As you can see in the photos, the dust changed the appearance of the Sun when looked from Britain and it covered the skies in the red hue. The residents of London, the capital of GB, could have only watched this spectacular, yet terrifying event as the city’s skyline changed drastically around 3 p.m.
The reason for concern was not the red Sun or the different color of the sky as much as it was the odd smell. People got afraid and were unaware of what was happening, and the number of 999 calls suddenly increased across the country.
According to Met Office forecaster Grahame Madge, the former hurricane is “pulling air and dust up from southern Europe and Africa.” He added: “It’s all connected with Ophelia, on the eastern side of the low-pressure system air is coming up in the southern direction. Air is being pulled from southern Europe and Africa and that air contains a lot of dust.”
“So it’s most likely the appearance of sunset at midday is caused by the particles scattering the light and giving the appearance of a red sun. It’s certainly spectacular at the moment and quite a talking point, we’ve had a lot of calls about it,” explained Grahame.
Ophelia has reached the west coast of Ireland, and one person has unfortunately lost life to the hurricane.
