Donald Trump’s estate on St Martin island was destroyed by Hurricane Irma on Wednesday! A mansion with a total of 11 bedrooms which is owned by the POTUS and the luxurious home of billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson in the British Virgin Islands was also in the way of Hurricane Irma!
President of the United States has put in a lot of effort recently to sell his property on St Martin, but unfortunately, his attempts were unsuccessful. A waterfront estate with a pool and fitness center which cost $16.9 million is now dirt and dust following the progress of Hurricane Irma.
According to French officials, the four most solid buildings on the island had ‘suffered serious damage’ which means that President’s mansion is no more.
When it comes to Richard Branson, it was his son who informed the public about the destruction of his father’s property earlier on Thursday. Richard owns Virgin Airlines and Virgin Media and is a prominent figure in the world of entrepreneurship and business. He tweeted ahead of the storm that he would be in hiding underneath his house in a concrete wine cellar along with his guests. His villa is located on Necker Island, and he was waiting for the storm to pass. Unfortunately, it was the most powerful hurricane to ever come from the Atlantic, and his home also suffered the consequences.

This tweet seems horrible when you look at it now considering the dire consequences of the hurricane that the people of the Caribbean had to go through. Terrible financial losses are expected in the region and tourism won’t be flourishing anytime soon. Infrastructure has been damaged beyond repair.
To make things even worse 10 people have lost their lives due to the hurricane and the island of Barbuda suffered the most. It was the first to get hit by Irma, and it has been wiped out. Puerto Rico officials claim that almost 900,000 people are without power and the Puerto Rican Electric Power officials have warned the public that some parts of the country could end up being without electricity for as long as six months.
Virgin, a company in possession of Branson, also issued a statement where they said: ‘We are deeply saddened by the events that have taken place in the last 24 hours, and our hearts and thoughts are with our friends and family in the Caribbean. We are very grateful to be able to report that all of our team on Island have been accounted for as safe as well. Necker Island felt the effects of Hurricane Irma and sustained extensive damage, the extent of which we are still assessing.’
Richard also took to social media to warn others to take all precautions necessary.
‘Homes can be rebuilt but lives can’t,’ he said. ‘Nature warning us again of the impact of #climatechange. We must all do more to combat this.’
Just before the storm, he tweeted about his guests enjoying a sleepover in two rooms.
‘I haven’t had a sleepover quite like it since I was a kid,’ he wrote, describing the atmosphere on the island as ‘eerie but beautiful.’
