Since a lot of series have been called off, from Nashville to Agent Carter, it seems that TV shows have gone through a genuine massacre lately. Over the past few weeks, all big networks such as NBC or CBS decided to scratch off a huge number of shows. Even the prime time series are not excluded from this bloodbath as we just found out that House of Lies will soon be canceled.
Showtime has officially called off House of Lies, and reportedly we will not see Season 6. So far, this popular comedy has had five seasons and actors such as Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell have starred in it. House of Lies is about a group of insensitive management consultants who try to gain profit with their business practices, and at the same time balance their professional and personal lives.
Over the past five years, this series has given its audience the intense satire and hasn’t hesitated to bring up some burning issues. This show is not only eager to risk it all, but it also gained its popularity by continually breaking the fourth wall and using Don Cheadle’s monologs.
David Nevins, president of Showtime, talked about canceling the series. He said the show was fresh and advanced, and even called it state-of-the-art, thanks to the creator of the show Matt Carnahan and his narrative.
Actually, canceling the sequel after broadcasting whole five seasons is not as bad as it seems. However, House of Lies will leave a high-quality legacy, and it is expected that the show’s cast will be fine on their own. Kristen Bell has just reached a deal for the forthcoming comedy The Good Place on NBC which will debut this fall. Don Cheadle remains in his outstanding role in the extremely thriving show Marvel Cinematic Universe. As for Ben Schwartz, he should just be in every show that is ever made.
