We have some good news for you since one of the most overlooked series by fans has been renewed by SundanceTV. Season 3 of Hap and Leonard has been scheduled for 2018.
Obviously, Season 3 is going to be based on the third book from a series of a famous crime/horror writer Joe R. Lansdale, The Two-Bear Mambo. Season 2 was named Mucho Mojo, after the second book of the series, while Season 1 was based on Savage Seasons, the first book. Along with some other things, he is responsible for some very good movies, such as Bubba Ho-Tep and Cold in July, which was by the way directed by Jim Mickle, Hap and Leonard executive producer.
SundanceTV and Sundance Now said: “James and Michael bring new depth and dimension to the buddy-action genre, and Joe Lansdale’s brilliant work continues to be in excellent hands with John Wirth and company.” We could also hear Jan Diedrichsen, the general manager stating: “At once darkly funny and socially relevant, there’s no other series like the southern-noir, Hap and Leonard, and we couldn’t be prouder that it will continue for another season on SundanceTV.”
The executive producer of Hap and Leonard, John Wirth said: “AMC/SundanceTV is one of the original purveyors of ‘art’ on television and I’m pleased to be continuing my long relationship with Charlie, Jan, Joel, Susie, their strong creative execs and our peerless cast and crew.”
Jim Mickle, Hap and Leonard executive producer, stated: “We’re beyond psyched to bring the boys back for a third helping of mayhem. It’s a show that doesn’t fold up neatly into one defined box and that’s what makes it special, so thanks to SundanceTV for believing in it and championing it from day one.” He added: “We also owe a big thank you to the fans for the phenomenal response so far.”
