In a very hush-hush manner, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) announced recently that the company will bid adieu to Google Moderator on July 31, 2015. Google Takeout will allow the users to extract the data in Moderator by downloading it. Takeout is the service offered by company to export the account data, and it will be available in this service for a minimum period of two years.
Enjoy Moderator until June 30
The users who used to enjoy the services of Google Moderator will be able to cast their votes on questions, ask queries or create the new series still, but only until June 30, 2015. However, on July 1, 2015, the Moderator will go on the real-only mode. Thereafter, on July 31, 2015, it will be finally invisible to everyone, bidding adieu forever.
The feedback service no longer available
Google Moderator kicked off in September 2008. The service ranked the questions submitted by users on it. Also, the ranking was done for suggestions and users’ ideas. This was a crowd-sourcing facility that allowed getting feedback of a huge populace, but not just asking their questions, but also cast their votes regarding the top-most trending questions.
The primary objective of this Google service was ensuring that every single question was duly paid heed. This was done in order to ascertain that the team moderator or the event moderator addressed the questions posed by the audience. All the questions were made visible publically.
Google Moderator received attention in 2008
The service from Google was given due recognition and attention in December 2008 because the transition team of Barack Obama, elected by him, used the service for answering public questions. The first series of this event ran for below two days and such short span too, it attracted around 1 million votes on 10,000 questions from 20,000 people.
Google Moderator has been used in a range of political debates as well. However, its attraction remained contracted to selected events only.
