Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) CEO Larry page, a year ago, expressed his interest in restructuring infra by making more efficient airport and a model city, according to a report from The Information by Amir Efrati Even though the Google co-founder Sergey Brin is in the charge of the company’s X Moonshot research division that does not stop Page to think of high-fly ideas.
Page conveyed the idea to executives
The idea of developing and structuring is not new to these people; the idea was already in the mind of Page a year ago, when in a conference, Page convened his direct reports to the company’s senior vice presidents or dozen member that the project will take up two days a week for a couple of months. The report also noted that about 100 other employees below the SVP rank also participated in the effort for Google 2.0.
The report noted that Page already picked his best executives to imagine and ensure what “Google 2.0” would look like, and set some new goals for the firm. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) CEO described that the aim was to come up with goals that redefine lives. These initiatives involved group workshops, floated ideas around subscription products, child-friendly services, and indoor positioning. The company will look forward to goals ranging from subscription businesses to location services to developing replacements for traditional passwords.
Page planned another division like Google X
According to the people close to Page, the CEO did not have necessary control over Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s product direction. Page noted that main teams were huge and wanted to streamline it for better focus and more deliberate resource allocation. One of the sources mentioned that the business was advancing at superfast speed, but without Page’s consent on it.
Many big ideas have been shared by Mr Page. He introduced ideas like the creation of a second major research lab alongside Google X and building a model airport and city was one of them. This effort from the company and its CEO is remarkable and unbelievable. These efforts express scope of his ambitions for the company.
Reportedly, he also considered a new Research and Development division similar to Google X, which he would oversee.
