Google Glass could not bear the summer conditions, cracks and tiny air bubbles seeping inside the device only to distort the image on the screen, according to a report from TechRadar. The explorer edition that costs $1,500 is in red due to the little known defect of air bubbles due to heat or humid conditions. The device has a mirror, which is fixed to reflect an image via internal projector straight to the direction of eye, but it is cracking like a tinfoil.
Tiny air bubbles distort image
After the air bubble settles inside the screen, the user gets a diverting look, when he or she sees through a glass prism, although basic functionality is not hindered by the defect. A Google Glass user came across this problem while horse riding when all other functions of the Google Glass were working precisely in line, he noticed the tiny small air bubbles inside the screen.
The user notes that the temperature was not very high, near about 85°F (29°C) during the day. Some users were sweating, but it was not hot enough to get the glass broken. Also, the device related FAQ have no information about maximum and minimum temperature to which it should be subjected; rather it only warns not to get the gadget wet.
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is already aware of its Glass device is prone to air bubbles, and has replaced it in case of such complaints. The customer care dedicated to Glass owners vows to “find a solution,” but its media relations department sees it more appropriate to remain on the sidelines during the entire process.
Espionage threat
Ever since Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) decided to launch such wearing technology, there have been many doubts and concerns over the use and off course misuse of the device. The device is seen as a major threat to the Business enterprise security as it can record video without the anyone’s knowledge. It can cause data theft or espionage.
Earl Perkins, research vice president in systems security and risk at Gartner, said that the main concern with the mobile is that one should leave it behind while visiting places where the device is restricted due to the recording capability, and the same problem would arise with Google Glass as well.
Also, the device could be used as a spying tool, which can compel the organizations to raise the security in their offices to protect the sensitive data.
