The Game of Thrones Season 7 has ended, and there is only one season left in this epic saga. It is still early to talk about it because the fans are still contemplating about the finale, but we are turning our heads towards the new and the last Season 8. What do we know so far?
Season 8 Will Be Short
Game of Thrones Season 7 had only seven episodes instead of the usual ten. However, the final season will be even shorter with only six chapters. The good news is that several of those episodes will run for almost two hours, so they will be more like movies. When we add everything up, those six episodes will last much longer, so it is basically like watching a 10-episode season.
Game of Thrones Season 8 Premiere
The official date is not announced yet. However, the start of the shooting of the new episodes is scheduled for October 2017, so we expect to see the new season to air either in summer 2018 or sometimes after that. Hopefully, the show will not be premiered in 2019, because that would be lots of waiting for the impatient fans.
If they can wrap up the filming by March, for example, the show could air in September or October. There is lack of details, and conflicting sources say different things, so we will wait for more information. Casey Bloys, the programming chief at HBO said that the new Game of Thrones season might not air until 2019.
Season Finale Synopsys – Spoilers
In case you haven’t watched the Season 7 Finale, stop reading. Let’s start in the south. Dorne is done. Indira Varma announced that Ellaria Sand would not come back for the new season and there are no major characters in the south anymore.
The conflicting sides have “agreed” to fight the Night King, but Cersei is still looking to gain the advantage in the war against Daenerys and Jon Snow. The stage is set, and the final battle between the living and the dead can finally become. One thing is for sure – this is Game of Thrones, so don’t expect a happy ending.
L+R=J theory has been officially confirmed even the fans have known this for a while. However, the characters don’t know it yet, and it will be interesting to see how will this pan out in the future with Dany and Jon, once Jon finds out his true identity. The Targaryens kept their lineage pure for years, so the relationship between Daenerys and Jon is not too scary, right? We should also mention that most of the Targaryens went mad just because of incest. It remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, Jamie is riding north to the Wall. He has finally abandoned his sister who cares only about power and we cannot wait to see his next move. There are some popular theories, and one of them is that Cersei will lose the child that she carries at the moment and kill herself, but she will be raised as a wight. This means that Jamie will lose everything – all of his children and his sister/lover – so he will become Azor Ahai, who will eventually murder Cersei in her new wight form.
In Winterfell, Arya and Sansa have finally come to their senses, but that was expected. They realized, probably with the help of the omnipotent Bran in scenes never shown, who Littlefinger actually is and that he was responsible for all the chaos and the War of Five Kings. He was a cunning character, and we couldn’t imagine a better actor in his role than Aidan Gillen. Although Lord Baelish will not be missed in the new season of Game of Thrones, we want to give a shout-out to Gillen for amazing acting.
This season finale was perhaps the best episode of the entire series, and we cannot wait for the Game of Thrones Season 8 on HBO, hopefully, next year. What do you think will happen and how will the series end?
