Game of Thrones Season 8 Confirmed! Here’s What You Need To Know!

Winter is coming! But you’ll have to wait for it a bit longer, at least until 2019. HBO recently issued a statement where the company confirmed Season 8 of their biggest show!

“The epic fantasy series Game of Thrones will return for its six-episode, eighth and final season in 2019. David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be the directors for the new season. Writers for the new season are David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill. The executive producers of the series are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield. Co-executive producers are Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin.”

The statement came as a brief press release that ‘foreshadowed’ its final season as many claim. Unfortunately for millions of GoT fans, the final season of the show will only have six episodes.

Season 8 itself may be short, plus on top of that, we’ll have to wait for it awfully long. One of the most popular TV shows of today will take more than a year off from TV. The comeback is scheduled for 2019, but it will also end the same year. HBO hasn’t confirmed the exact month and date. And yes, many fans are devastated because this is bad news but let’s see if we can discern some light at the end of the tunnel.

It is still unknown how the series will end since Game of Thrones the series has strayed off the path of the novel. We are sure in one thing though, for all we’ve learned in the past seasons, we are in for a bittersweet ending. On top of that, George R.R. Martin teased an emotional finish to his best piece of work, and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) agreed. Sophie Turner confirmed that the production is already underway for GoT Season 8 and that everyone’s emotional on the set. She also mentioned the moment when the last script was read to them.

“The first day of the actors coming in and that kind of production starting, the day where we had the final read-through for the final script, it was really bittersweet. It was hard. At the end of the very last script, they read aloud, ‘End of Game of Thrones.’ As soon as they read that out, pretty much everyone burst into tears,” Sophie Turner stated.

“It’s definitely more epic this season, for sure. It grows and grows and grows. There are bigger and more fantastical elements, which have always been underlying throughout, but this time, it’s really emerging and there are very big roles this season.”

Jason Momoa, the actor who played Khal Drogo in Season 1, recently talked about his visit to the GoT Season 8 set. He revealed that he was blown away by what he saw there.

“It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to f*** up a lot of people,” the former Game of Thrones actor said.
