All of you who are planning to visit 2018 Dallas Fort Worth Auto Show will be graced with something new and interesting, and it comes in the form of the 2018 Ford Edge SEL “Sport Appearance Pack” that now hosts features like cloth interior, 19″ wheels and blacked-out body elements. Although this sounds fantastic, you will have to wait until fall to get your hands on one of these, and you will also have to add $1,295 on the price for this option.
Edge brand marketing manager, Angela Canales stated that “Our SEL Sport Appearance Package on Edge is an opportunity to provide customers with a vehicle that meets their high expectations while giving them more choice. Being thoughtful about design and feature combinations means we’re giving them the look and the technology they’re after at an affordable price.” The new Edge SEL will, besides having the blacked-out and sporty appearance, be very functional and with the cloth interior on such a high-spec model, Ford actually takes care of the customers that reside in markets with harsh weather conditions. That exact reason is why Edge sells about 5% more non-leather seats in Dallas than the national average (cloth materials are a lot more comfortable in both hot and cold weather).
But let’s talk about something else than seats. Apparently 2018 Edge SEL “Sport Appearance Pack” will feature SYNC 3 with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay compatibility, premium audio, rear camera & reverse sensing system, a panoramic vista roof, black roof rack side rails, satellite navigation, blind spot monitoring and a hands-free power liftgate.
Besides this, the new Edge will also have some custom made elements such as the unique front seat head restraint backing, which is finished in Umber-colored Mike suede cloth, which is basically the same material that can be found on the Mayan Gray fabric seat coverings. Ford also implemented the custom Copper Sands textured applique which is supposed to carry the color theme all the way to the dashboard.
The exterior will boast with the 10 spoke 19″ wheels that are wearing a Magnetic Metallic hue, but the wheels are not the only one wearing this color. It is also transferred to grille surround, mirror caps, rear spoiler and the front & rear skid plates, while the headlamp bezels and side window trim have been blacked-out.
