When you hear the name MegaRaptor, and you see what this car looks like, you might think that it appeared in a Japanese sci-fi movie from the 1960s, but that is not the case. This vehicle is real, and it is massive. The Ford F-250 MegaRaptor sits on 20-inch wheels wrapped in 46-inch tires because of which the body had to be heavily tuned to create proper ground clearance. The idea of this machine popped into Jeremy Dixon’s head, and the vehicle is built based on the Ford F-250 Super Duty.
They replaced the hood and fenders with custom fiberglass panels that are equipped with enormous fenders and an aggressive hood. It is bolted up to a forward-opening steel frame, and because of that, the entire front clip can be opened like the big rig. The engineers added a pair of huge fiberglass fender flares to the modified gigantic bed.
The F-250 is equipped with a 4.5-inch lift kit from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, while Bilstein shocks are there for a softer ride. The front axle is relocated, and it is now placed forward to increase ground clearance, whereas 10-lug military-spec hubs are installed for better off-road driving.
What we have as the finishing product is a truck with more ground clearance but a decently low center of gravity which improves the stability of the MegaRaptor when it crawls over rocky terrain, or it speeds through the desert. Optional kit includes modified exhaust systems, custom bumpers, cold air intakes, leather upholstery, lighting systems, side steps and spare tire carriers mounted to the bed.
You can convert your Ford F-250 into a MegaRaptor for $28,000, but if this is too expensive for you, the company (F250R.com) offers a $22,000 conversion. In this case, they will add smaller 17-inch wheels with smaller 40-inch tires and stock F-250 hubs. If you start with the used $20,000 F-250, you can build a MegaRaptor for about $50,000, which is the price of the new F-150 Raptor. If you buy a new F-250, turning it into this beast, it will set you back around $80,000.
