Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 and all about it + trailers!

Source:ubisoft.com

This is well known and one of the most interesting titles that comes from Ubisoft. The fifth installment of the popular first-person open world shooter franchise Far Cry is going to bring some controversy to the game. The part before this – Far Cry Primal was set in the prehistoric and quite unexpected environment while Far Cry 5 brings us back to the modern day, and this time you will find yourself in America, a rural area known as Hope County, Montana to be precise. Here something very wrong happened pretty fast, and it’s up to you to liberate the residents of Hope County from the cult of religious fanatics. The Far Cry 5 will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC and you will get a chance to own it on February 27th, 2018.

As we promised in the title, we have some trailers for you, and we are not going to let you down. The trailers we have here come as a courtesy of this year’s Ubisoft E3 conference, and we have two for you. One of them is revealing controversial and thematically-revealing cinematics, while the other one is a pure actual gameplay. Check them out below.

Besides these two, sometime earlier Ubisoft decided to release some of the character trailers which give you a heads up on some of the interesting NPCs you will meet in Hope County, as well as have the chance of recruiting them to help you resist the religious fanatics. Here are some:

Mary May – The Barkeep

Pastor Jerome Jeffries

Nick Rye – The Pilot

Far Cry 5 release date

If you were home near a PC or a smartphone/tablet etc. on May 22nd you were able to catch the first teaser for the Far Cry 5 that came directly from Ubisoft. What was a bit disappointing is the fact that Ubisoft didn’t reveal much of the game’s features in that 40-second trailer, we only get to know that you will be located in Hope County Montana. From the teaser, you could also find out that the game will be released February 28th, 2018, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

What it’s like?!

The first novelty which was clear in the E3 demo for Far Cry 5, among others, is the fact that you now have an ability to have guns for hire companions. Before the demo mission started, you had an option to choose between three helpers –
Grace Armstrong, a sniper able to provide accurate long-distance cover,
Nick Rye, a pilot who can swoop in with his plane to drop bombs and spray devastating machine gun fire,
and Boomer, a dog well-suited to stealthy takedowns and a genuine sense of in-battle companionship.

These choices are basically there to suit your playing style, and they will aid you in your mission in the way you like it best – from far (sniping), from the air (via bomb-dropping pilot) or stealthy using Boomer the dog.

Once you choose the companion, the game starts, and you step into the Fall’s End, a town in Hope County which is overrun by the game’s villainous religious cult and in desperate need of our help. Your starting position is on high ground, so you get a chance to do some recon and plan the attack. After you scroll through the weapon inventory using the mouse wheel and select your preferred weapon, the show can start.

When you get to the bottom of the hill, the moment when the opponents spot you all hell breaks loose, and you find yourself in the rain of bullets from the rotten cultists who are trying to duck into cover. When the action begins, your companion of choice kicks in. If you chose Boomer and stealth approach to deal with enemies, you will need to be very careful, but if you prefer Nick or Grace, you are going to have lots of fun. Nick is able to rain down hell from his airplane on enemies you highlight to him or simply drop bombs on them for an instant and incredible firework show. Grace, on the other hand, has a sniper rifle which comes handy when you are pinned down or in need of a diversion. She can easily take down enemies from far away and clear your way toward victory.

Thanks to the help of companions of your choice you can easily complete the task and finish missions that would otherwise probably last longer and be more difficult if you were on your own. After liberating the Fall’s End, you get a chance to explore and interact with NPCs as well as meet new possible companions like the barmaid Mary May for instance. There are more interesting things in the Far Cry 5, and one on those is a new form of combat in the game – aerial dogfights.

Aerial dogfights

This is without a doubt a brand new thing to the franchise, and it is not half as bad. When you rise to the sky in Nick’s plane, you will find everything a lot more interesting and a bit dizzy to use. You get a great amount of firepower available for fitting out the plane, and that fact gives you a great boost of confidence when you find yourself chasing down another plane through the sky in the first person. You will often find yourself looping through the air for far longer than needed, but hey why not?! It is really fun!

The familiar stuff

What is practically left unchanged is the combat segment. Besides the guns for hire option and aerial fighting, the combat feature in Far Cry 5 is pretty much same old. But that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Ubisoft approached the fight part with that good old saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” and they were right because it was never anything wrong with the first person controls in this game, ever. When combat becomes slightly overwhelming for you alone, that companion addition makes you feel like you got a hidden card up your sleeve that will get you the win on a press of a button, or just slightly lower the opposition odds until you find a better way out of the problem.

In game relationships

Ubisoft representative explained that it is totally up to you to secure the companions you’d most like to have on your side and, what is more important, keep them on your side. Besides the companions in SP, you will also get a chance to bring your friends into the game to help you fight the enemy in co-op mode. There is one thing that will be carried over from other Far Cry titles, and that is the hunting elements as well as wild animal encounters, which will be another danger in the game, just to keep you on your toes all the time. What most of you want to hear is that you will be given a chance to create your own character at the beginning of the game, as well as to determine gender and appearance.

Far Cry 5 story

Far Cry 5 will this time revolve around a religious cult in the USA called The Project, which rose up and took control of the town of Hope County just when your character arrived in town. You take a role of a deputy sheriff who is trying to take them down. The leader of The Project is Joseph Seed, who calls himself The Father, and he resolutely believes that the end of days is coming and it’s up to him to save the town whether they like it or not.

Weapon customization

According to Ubisoft and what we managed to find out at E3 conference, vehicles and weapons will be customizable (even more than in any previous Far Cry game), so it’ll be interesting to see what will we all be able to do with them.

So far this is an excellent new game and a very big refreshment needed in the franchise, the only thing left now is to wait for the official release date until we all are able to get a copy and try it for ourselves.
