Facebook Chief Executive, Mark Zuckerberg, has promised he will do his best to solve the problem of Facebook’s fake news so many people have complained about. On several occasions, it has been talked about the possible influence of false news on the outcome of the recent U.S. presidential elections, but that’s not all. This issue is also believed to have an impact on how credible people will find the site from now on, and it might do harm to company’s earnings as well.

Zuckerberg has listed some of the new ways in which he is planning to combat this problem. For instance, it will be made easier for people to report misinformation, Facebook ad system will be changed in a way to keep fake news away from the site, the detection system will be improved, automated, etc.

For the time being, what Wall Street is worried about is the possibility of the burning issue affecting company’s net income. With regard to that, Brian Wieser, a Senior Analyst at Pivotal Research Group has said: “The new measurement concerns, the dropping of Atlas and the focus on ‘fake news’ on Facebook from the recent election cycle collectively represent negative factors that will impact Facebook’s revenue growth, perhaps to the tune of a couple of percentage points”.

The Facebook founder has stated that they will do what it takes to solve such a huge problem. He said: “Some of these ideas will work well, and some will not. But I want you to know that we have always taken this seriously, we understand how important the issue is for our community and we are committed to getting this right.”

All in all, we can only hope Zuckerberg will keep his word and not let the problem in question change dramatically the site’s credibility as a source of news.
