There is no doubt about the fact that Ezekiel Elliot was the right choice for the Dallas Cowboys in 2016 NFL Draft. They knew what are the strengths of their team, what they wanted to do and who they needed to pick up to do it. Cowboys picked the right man, at the right position and it’s paying off.
When they drafted him, they were thinking about holding the ball, keeping their defense off the field with Elliot running behind their massive offensive line. He’s not only met the expectations but exceeded those. Elliot is one of the Top 3 MVP candidates right now, probably even second, right behind Tom Brady.
Dallas’ rookie proved why he is right in the middle of the MVP conversation with another amazing performance. You always need to run the ball effectively when you are playing on the road against a good offensive team. That’s what Dallas did, and that is why they were able to win the game. Elliot ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns while also destroying this Steelers defense in the passing game with 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
What a monster performance by this man. Three TDs on the day with over 200 total yards is quite impressive, but when you add a game-winning 32-yard clutch TD run to that, it takes it to a whole new level. This is what Elliot was able to do in this match, and we could already see him doing similar things in previous rounds. With this level of play and consistency, we can expect to see a lot more from this guy, and that’s why he is a legitimate MVP candidate.
