Great news for all of us that are highly anticipating the best of the Japanese carmaker and its Civic lineup. The company is supposed to activate their manufacturing facility which is located at basically Europe’s largest right-hand drive market, and from there the automaker will export Type R’s across the continent, and to other markets across the world, including Japan and, for the first time ever, North America.
As it is previously reported the 2018 Honda Civic Type R will boast with a 2.0 L turbocharged four-cylinder unit that is capable of delivering 315 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque, and it will exclusively be attached to a six-speed manual transmission. In this configuration, the 2018 Civic Type R needs only 5.7 sec for a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h (62 MPH), before it reaches its peak speed of 272 km/h (169 MPH). Average fuel consumption is estimated at 7.7 l/100 km (31 US mpg / 37 UK mpg), and the hot hatch will emit 176 g/km of CO2.
As you already know, it is a lot larger than its predecessor, and it will now host a very sporty body kit that makes it instantly noticeable, at least compared to the regular Civics. It will also feature an assortment of driver assistance systems such as blind spot monitoring, cross traffic monitor, and the brand’s suite of active safety technologies as an added bonus.
