According to various sources in Denver, Emmanuel Sanders and Broncos will split in 2018. What makes this interesting, is the fact that Sanders said that if he leaves he would love to play for Dallas Cowboys. America’s Team is looking to add receivers in the next few months through draft and free agency and Sanders would be a significant acquisition.
Emmanuel Sanders is the product of Bellville High School and Southern Methodist University, both located in The Lone Star State. A native Texan would love to come home, and playing for Dallas would help him do this. Now, The Boys haven’t expressed an interest in Sanders, but they are looking to revamp their receiving corps. Brice Butler burned the bridges back to Big D with his public statements, and rest of the receivers are in decline. Bryant is in danger of being removed from the roster if he doesn’t take a pay cut while Terrance Williams’ future is unknown. Other receivers on the roster are young and inexperienced, without enough of NFL experience. The kind of expertise Dallas could use to reach the postseason.
The upcoming draft could be used to fill the WR needs, but if Cowboys decide that other positions are more important, they could pick up a receiver in free agency. At 30 years old, Sanders still has enough fuel to be a top player, and his price wouldn’t be astronomical. If Dallas team decides to stick to Bryant and Williams and skip picking a WR in the first rounds of the draft they should pursue Sanders.
However, it’s still unclear whether will Broncos cut Sanders or if they are going to try and trade him. If they release him, they will save $10.25 million in salaries. This number is too much for Cowboys to pay, but if Sanders wants to play for America’s Team in Texas, he should accept a pay cut. The same reduction that Bryant refuses to take.
