According to what we found out, it seems that Disney’s new movie “Jungle Cruise”, that already confirmed Johnson as a star, will have another one that is no less awesome than himself and it will be Emily Blunt. To those who do not know, “Jungle Cruise” will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, and the most recent draft of the script was penned by Oscar nominee Michael Green, the guy behind “Logan”. The original screenplay was written by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Movie itself will be based on the classic theme park attraction, that can be found in a few Disney Parks across the globe and it is basically a guided tour through the rivers of the world.
Disney is really optimistic about this one and they see it as a major franchize that will basically be side-by-side with the billion dollar “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. Thanks to this fact both Johnson and Collet-Serra decided to find some time in their beyond busy schedule and try and give their own perspective of the movie. As we found out Johnson sees this one inspired by “The African Queen”, movie that stars Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, and he basically hopes that this movie will portray the same character chemistry, especially when we know who the pair will be now. Thanks to Emily playing an awesome role in “Mary Poppins Returns” (they were aesthetic with her), they really wanted another way, another movie to keep her in the family.
Johnson’s latest feat is his “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” which just reached the $800 million worldwide box office milestone ($337 million domestic box office), and the this Disney movie will just keep him rolling for the greatness. Johnson’s 2018 will be very busy especially when we know that the “Rampage” and “Skyscraper” both are going to show up this year. As for the “Jungle Cruise” it is slated to start production this May and it will be produced by John Davis and John Fox via Davis Entertainment. Beau Flynn will produce with his FlynnPictureCo. banner, while Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce through Seven Bucks Productions. Scott Sheldon is co-producing.
The “Jungle Cruise” will be Blunt’s third collaboration with Disney after the musical “Into the Woods” and the already mentioned “Mary Poppins Returns” where she will be the lead actor alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda. If you want to see Emily Blunt a little sooner you can check out the Paramount’s upcoming supernatural horror film “A Quiet Place”. It will be in theaters on April 6th 2018.
