According to what Adam Schefter said today, there is a chance that Ezekiel Elliott will have his sentence reduced. As you know, he was given a six-match ban, a decision by NFL on which he had appealed.
While guesting on ESPN’s Mike&Mike, Schefter stated: “The more that I have heard, the more I think he has a real chance to have some games knocked off the suspension.”
As things stand now, Elliott is suspended for the first six games of the 2017 NFL Season. The decision was made after he was found guilty of violating NFL’s personal-conduct policy. The accusations are that Cowboy’s star running back hit his girlfriend at the time, Tiffany Thompson, while sitting in Elliott’s vehicle in Columbus, Ohio, in July 2016. TMZ first reported this news.
While the NFL conducted an independent investigation, the Columbus City Attorney’s office didn’t press any charges against Elliott. According to ESPN’s Jean-Jacques Taylor, the information that surfaced during the inquiry were “conflicting and inconsistent.”
Regardless of this, the league decided to suspend him for six matches. The NFL officials claim that there was substantial evidence that Ezekiel Elliott used excessive violence while engaging with Ms. Thompson. They even claim that it has happened on more than one occasion.
NFL Players Association filed an appeal on behalf of Dallas Cowboys star player. The first hearing was held on Tuesday during which Elliott himself testified under oath. This information came directly from NFL’s Ian Rapoport.
