When you are Dwayne Johnson, you get called to all sorts of events. Latest invite, in a pile of those that ‘The Rock’ gets every day came from Joseph Parker. Well, not from the man himself but from the people in charge of the organization of WBO Heavyweight Championship boxing match. The mentioned event takes place in Oakland on December the 10th and this showdown will feature New Zealand fighter of Samoan origin Joseph Parker and Mexican-American Andy Ruiz.
This match comes only two weeks before the New Zealand premiere of Johnson’s latest film ‘Moana.’
Promoting company Duco Events released a statement in which they have announced that former WWE Superstar and Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been invited to the match. The ‘Fast and Furious’ star also has Samoan origins and has on many occasions stated that he is very proud of it. The Duco Events has also released details about the involvement of Samoan government into the organization of this boxing duel. This should make Dwayne’s decision to attend the Championship fight much easier.
Like we already mentioned Parker is of Samoan origin and his real name is Lupesoliai La’auli Joseph Parker. On the other hand, Johnson doesn’t have an alternative name, besides ‘The Rock’ that is, but has spent part of his childhood in New Zealand and still has family living there. A few months back he was visiting New Zealand and was given All Blacks Shirt as a present because Dwayne is a big rugby fan and played American football in college.
It would be a great honor for Samoan government and Parker if Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson accepted this invite but it would also help them attract more crowd to the match. You ask why? Well, like you already know Johnson was recently named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, he is Hollywood’s highest paid actor according to Forbes and let’s not forget his seventy million followers on Instagram.
When you look at the whole situation, we can fully understand everything, but maybe this is just a publicity stunt.
