People would say that they have seen everything when it comes to the celebrities. However, one can never get enough of surprises related to the famous people on a daily basis. These days there have been several rumors related to The Rock and the city of Vancouver. Namely, the movie star has been praising the town a lot recently, since he is currently shooting his latest film there. This project of his brings at least 3,000 jobs to the city, which is quite a number.
Therefore, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson found a way to say thank you to Johnson for his great contribution to the city. He decided to declare October 19 “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Day.” Robertson presented Johnson with an official proclamation on the set of Skyscraper on Thursday night.
What was written in the cheeky proclamation is that Vancouver is the greenest city in the world and that The Rock makes the most ‘green’ with films generating worldwide revenue over 2$ billion. Moreover, it cited Johnson’s charitable work with children through The Rock Foundation, his short-lived CFL career, as well as how his ‘iconic fanny pack has become a style statement the world over.’
However, there is a problem that the statement was issued on the night of October 13 and only made public the following day, which made it impossible for the people of Vancouver to properly celebrate. Nonetheless, Johnson posted a video of himself receiving the proclamation from Robertson on his Instagram account on Friday, mentioning it is ‘such a cool honor’ and calling Robertson ‘such a cool guy.’
Finally, he concluded by thanking the mayor and his staff for being gracious and welcoming to him and their entire production crew to their city. He also said that Vancouver would always hold a special place in his DNA, which was a lovely way to sum up the whole occasion.
