Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise Just Got Another Cast Member

From earlier we knew that upcoming Disney’s blockbuster Jungle Cruise is going to star Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Emily Blunt. Today, this adventure-action film just got another cast member. The actor in question is British comedian and uprising star Jack Whitehall. His role in the movie will be to play Emily Blunt’s brother, which is one of the most significant characters in the storyline.

Jungle Cruise will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. It is based on Disney’s theme park which is a worldwide attraction. It revolves around boat rides through fictional world’s rivers in an amusement park. The script is penned by an Oscar nominee Michael Green who was nominated for his writing on recent Logan movie. Initial screenplay was done by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, and Green only rewrote it a bit.

Disney has plans to make Jungle Cruise a blockbuster, similarly to what they have done with Pirates of the Caribbean. They will not keep it only on one film as they plan to make a franchise out of it. The movie will be a co-production between Davis Entertainment, FlynnPictureCo, and Seven Bucks Productions. The names involved in the production are John Davis, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Scott Sheldon, and of course Dwayne Johnson.

Now, back to Whitehall. The British comedian was involved in projects such as “Bad Education,” and “Mother’s Day.” He’s also involved in future ventures such as Disney’s upcoming “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” Amazon mini-series “Good Omens,” and Netflix series “Travels With My Father.” His stand-up act called “Jack Whitehall: At Large” is currently streaming on Netflix.

The Jungle Cruise seems to be one of many movies to come produced by Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions. Their most recent and biggest to date success Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle was a box office hit. The movie grossed close to $1 billion, with $401 million being domestic box office success. Flynn, Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia also collaborated on Johnson’s upcoming movies Rampage and Skyscraper. People’s Champ is apparently going by that old saying: “Don’t change the winning team.”
