Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has become more successful than anyone could have predicted. This family-friendly film was watched by hordes of people during its opening weekend, and while you would expect it to plateau or decrease in the upcoming weeks, Jumanji is still going strong.
It appears that director Jake Kasdan made a masterpiece as Jumanji earned another $27 million over Fri-Sun weekend and $33 million over the Fri-Mon MLK weekend. Even though a lot of money was invested in the movie, $90 million to be precise, the film will soon become the biggest-grossing Christmas week-release EVER in North America. It has passed Universal’s Meet the Fockers that was released in 2004 and which grossed $279 million as well as Illumination’s Sing that has earned $270 million. The only movie left is Inception which collected $292, and it is only a matter of days when Jumanji will take the top spot on the list.
Having Jumanji as the top Christmas release of all time isn’t surprising at all when you think about it. This movie is kid-friendly, but the adults can enjoy it as well. Moreover, it is far better if you watch it in cinemas than at home. Jumanji has an easy-going and engaging story everyone will simply love! This comedy/adventure may remind the audience of Jurassic World, which is just as entertaining.
You may like or dislike the 1995 Robin Williams movie, but that will not influence your thoughts of this film, which is great. Heck, even if you haven’t seen the original, the new Jumanji is still as fun. Furthermore, the cast was fantastic as well. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart were tremendous, but Karen Gillan and Jack Black (especially) stole the show. Of course, Nick Jonas also appeared in the film, and he was a nice edition.
This movie is not popular in America only. So far, it has earned over $667 million worldwide and what is impressive is that Jumanji ratings will keep growing!Jumanji
