Apparently, for the Memorial Day weekend, it was reported that this film had brought in $22 million into the box office, which is compared to the latest Pirates of the Caribbean’s $76.6 million, an enormous miss. According to some pre-release info, it was supposed to bring in at least $42 million for the five-day weekend, but after some last minute adjustments we’ve ended up with a figure of $37 million, at least according to what Hollywood Reporter wrote.
As far as the overall ratings, the audience loved it somewhat more than the critics, and they decided to give it a B+ CinemaScore, but the spinoff of the classic 1990’s television show received very poor ratings, meaning it only got around 19% from Rotten Tomatoes. According to critics, the film was a flailing self-parody at best with a possible shape as a “buddy comedy” that was supposed to emphasize the appeal of Johnson and Efron.
