Dwayne Johnson joined the Fast and Furious franchise in the fifth installment called Fast Five when he played his character, Luke Hobbs. The Universal Pictures wants to make a movie about Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Decker Shaw, but they wouldn’t leave out Charlize Theron’s Cipher who debuted in the Fate of the Furious.
The whole idea is in early stages of development, and nothing has been written yet, but Chris Morgan will be the main man to create the script, reports Variety. Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and Charlize Theron have yet to sign the contracts for the spin-off, which has supposedly been in the development since Fast Five. It was difficult to move this beyond an idea, but when Jason joined the franchise and had a great chemistry with The Rock, everything became much easier.
Charlize has also been added to the list for the spin-off mainly because her character was well received. If they do create this spin-off, we would watch Luke and Decker going after Cipher. In the meantime, Dwayne Johnson is going to star in the Fast and Furious 9 together with the superstar of the franchise, Vin Diesel who plays Dominic Torreto.
The relationship between the two went for the worse when the former WWE wrestler wrote that his “male co-stars” were not acting like “true professionals” last year. The Rock took it to the Instagram, and he posted: “This is my final week of shooting #FastAndFurious8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. UNIVERSAL has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em.”
He continued: “My male co-stars, however, are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right. (sic).”
