According to the US President Mr. Donald Trump, he’s been in touch with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The pair has talked about NFL, and the president’s ongoing campaign against the league and the players protest by kneeling to the national anthem. President is confident that he will come out as eventual winner in this battle stating that “players will stand for the country.”
If you didn’t know, Cowboys owner and GM Jones, has donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s inaugural committee. But, this didn’t stop him from standing up for his players and kneeling before the national anthem was played during the pregame preparations on Monday night in Arizona. Later on, they stood up for the anthem and the owner, players, and coaches linking their arms. As you probably know Jones was harsh in criticizing the players and teams that knelt during the anthem. He was also full of pride that none of his players decided to do so.
After, what might be called, a turn of events and Dallas Cowboys kneeling, Donald Trump addressed the public via Twitter: “Spoke to Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. Jerry is a winner who knows how to get things done. Players will stand for Country!”

The current US President started his campaign against the NFL on Friday. During one of his rally’s, in Alabama, he said: “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘get that son of a bi**h off the field right now — he’s fired.” Trump didn’t stop there but continued with his open critic of the league, players, teams and team owners. In the last few days, he frequently stated his opinions on Twitter, without choosing words. Mr. President even took some of his time during Tuesday news conference to talk about NFL players.
While some fans agree with him, the reaction across the NFL wasn’t all that in his favor. After his tirade on Friday, only more players started to protest the anthem. Some even didn’t leave their locker rooms during the US Anthem. On the other end, some of the owners joined their teams in kneeling and protests.
Will the Dallas Cowboys continue to kneel before the anthem, will they kneel during it, or will they stop this practice in its fullest remains to be seen?
We’ll just have to wait for Sunday’s match against Rams in Dallas at the AT&T Stadium.
