The new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT has been spotted testing near the SRT’s headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This model that we had a chance to see on the pictures looks fascinating with its black paint that is combined with jet black wheels.
The front end of the new Durango remains a mystery since the camouflage hasn’t been taken off, but the bulging hood is clearly visible. As it appears, there is a small scoop in the hood in order to bring more cool air to the engine. The fog lights can also be seen, and they seem larger compared to the ones on the ongoing model.
Meanwhile, Dodge is quiet about the engine lineup, and fans are in the dark for now, but two units are possible. Rumor has it that a 6.4-liter V8 unit will be used for the new SRT and this powerplant will produce 475 horses, which would be a significant step forward compared to the ongoing 5.7-liter V8 good for 360 horsepower. Dodge can also go with a powerful 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 that delivers stunning 707 hp, but the former option is more likely.
Dodge will probably produce an AWD Durango SRT with an automatic gearbox without offering any other alternatives. The big increase in horsepower will be accompanied by larger brakes and a modified suspension, while the vehicle will see some minor changes in the cabin as well.
It is expected that the Dodge Durango will be refreshed sometime in 2017 and the SRT will be the new range-topper. Follow us for more details.
