The Dallas Cowboys football organization is the most valuable team for the second straight year in a row, according to Forbes. The club earns a top spot for a reason as the worth of the franchise is valued at $4.2 billion, which is $200 million higher than in 2016. This is the first time in the Forbes list’s history that a soccer team is not in the top two. The second spot belongs to the New York Yankees which has the value of $3.7 billion.

Even though football is the sport which is at the highest level in the US and it is played only in several countries outside the States but on an amateur and semi-professional level, four out of ten teams on the list are NFL organizations. The Cowboys franchise was on the top of the list last year even though they had a disastrous season on the field, which was a surprise to everyone, but that only shows that you don’t need to be the best to be the richest.

However, the Cowboys improved when Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott reinforced the squad, finishing the season as division winners and becoming relevant once again. This time, the successful season kept Dallas on the top, but we would like to see this budgetary success carried over to the field.
