Dallas Cowboys hold the 28th overall pick in the NFL Draft. It is the only selection that they will have in a first round unless they go out and make a blockbuster deal that is going to get them a first round pick in return. That is unlikely to happen, and we are going to talk about their first round options without any trade predictions.
Stephen Jones has recently said that the focus of the Cowboys is going to be the defense. There are two positions that Dallas really needs to boost in order to be as successful as they were last season. Pass rush needs to exist in the Big D. Rod Marinelli did a good job with the tools that he had, but the pass rush failed to bother Aaron Rodgers in the biggest game of the year for Dallas.
Takkarist McKinley should be their pick. He is one of the best defensive ends in the draft. From UCLA, the Cowboys are interested in him and will give him a look. He has had some troubles with his shoulder, but that shouldn’t keep Dallas from drafting this guy if they like him.
McKinley has a lot to offer to the team, especially the one that is looking to put more pressure on opposing signal callers. He has been good against good squads, rushes of the edge, has a great motor and athletic ability. He definitely is one of the favorites to be drafted by the Cowboys with their 28th overall selection. McKinley looks like a guy capable of making an impact in his first year.
