Dallas Cowboys had a busy day on Saturday because, just like any other NFL team, they had to reduce their 90-man roster down to just 53 players. In other words, 37 players had to be released to free agency or sent to waiver wire.
A majority of the waived players went unclaimed, and 10 of them are going to join the Dallas practice squad. Those ten players are Marquez White (Cornerback), Lewis Neal, Richard Ash (Defensive Tackles), Lance Lenoir, Brian Brown (Wide Receivers), Kadeem Edwards, Nate Theaker (Guard), Blake Jarwin (Tight End), Jameill Showers (Safety) and Dan Skipper (Offensive Tackle).
Marquez White, who was drafted in the sixth round this year, was thought to end up on the active roster after cornerback Duke Thomas suffered an injury, but Dallas team decided to send him to the practice squad. On Saturday, the Cowboys traded for Bene Benwikere, a cornerback from the Cincinnati Bengals, thus making White expendable.
Even though Lewis Neal is undersized for his position, he proved his worth in the preseason and earned a spot on the practice squad. Meanwhile, Lance Lenoir and Brian Brown had a solid preseason and training camp. One other name we need to mention is Andy Jones, who was claimed by the Houston Texans and will be a part of their active roster.
Every team in the NFL has the right to 10 players who are a part of the practice squad. It is important to know that these players do not participate in games, but they are not protected, so any NFL squad can sign them and add them to their active roster except the franchise a team faces in the upcoming week.
What do you think about this list and players that are on it?
