It turns out that Captain James Anderson led quite a life. He was both a privateer or a legal pirate, and he belonged to the order of Freemasons. He did quite a few things in his life, and one of them was buying Lot 26 on Oak Island that was later sold to Samuel Ball. Anderson’s chest was investigated in the episode and one of the people interested in the chest and Oak Island in general, Scott Clarke revealed a lot of details about Anderson and his Freemasonry connections.
