Dallas Cowboys really didn’t make a lot of noise in the offseason. Their weak defense just got even worse after some of their players decided to move on from the squad and join other teams. But, the Draft is still there, and they can still fix what needs to be fixed in May when the Draft happens.
Even though this move that happened just a day ago was expected, it is still the biggest move that the Cowboys have made after they got eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. The team announced that they have signed their legendary tight end Jason Witten to a four-year contract extension.
Jason Witten is 35 years old, but can still do the damage with his blocking performance as well as in pass catching game. He is the franchise leader in receptions as he has had 1,089 of those in his career. This guy is probably going to end up in the Hall Of Fame one day, and he does deserve a golden jacket.
There was really no doubt that Jason Witten would retire as a Cowboy. There is no need to for him to play for any other franchise as he is still very productive and affordable. Now, Witten’s deal says that he is going to be a member of the Americas Team until the year of 2024.
Even though he is a great player and has had a great career, Witten has never played in a game that had a Super Bowl berth on the line. Dallas has a good team now, and it seems that Witten will have a couple of more shots at the Super Bowl as he still has a few seasons in front of him.
